 Fernando has begun to create a new module (hatch) for starting the
 ipython1 engines and controller.  We need to complete this work.  I am not
 sure about the status of hatch.  Some of the things we need to implement
 are:

 1) Support for starting engines using mpirun
 2) Support for PBS
 3) Refactored support for starting things through ssh.
